ABOUT

近年、根強い人気を誇る北欧デザインは、日本でもすっかり定着し、なじみ深いものとなっています。フィンランドのイッタラやアラビアなどの食器、マリメッコやフィンレイソンといったテキスタイルブランドが広く人気を誇るほか、建築や家具、照明ではデンマークのデザインが知られるようになりました。そんななか、本展では、これまで日本で紹介される機会が少なかったスウェーデンのテキスタイルデザインを取り上げます。冬が長い北欧諸国では、室内を彩る美しいテキスタイルは、暮らしを心地よく整えるために必要不可欠なものでした。スウェーデンのテキスタイルには、自然に着想を得た親しみやすいデザインが豊富で、ポップでカラフルな色使いも大きな魅力です。本展では、テキスタイルと関連資料など約２５０点によって、デザインの歴史と変遷、さらにデザイナーが作品に込めた物語を紐解きます。

Designed by the renowned architect Kisho Kurokawa, the building incorporates references to Japanese traditional forms and local motifs. The museum features a unique collection focused on four principal areas: local art from the Nagoya cultural region, the École de Paris, the Mexican Renaissance, and postwar and contemporary art.
