古来、仏教経典を書写することは、大きな功徳があると信じられてきました。そのため仏教伝来以来、日本でも盛んに写経が行われ、数多くの写経遺品が伝存しています。本展では、古筆手鑑に貼り込まれた断簡を含む尾張徳川家伝来品の優品を中心に、近年新たに寄贈を受けた作品も交えながら、古代から近世にかけての古写経の名品をご紹介します。書写した人々の祈りや願いを伝えるとともに、文字、料紙、装丁の美しさにも注目してお楽しみください。
