開館45周年記念「鉄斎の祭礼図」

幕末の動乱と明治維新による近代化の波は、連綿と続く日本の祭礼や習俗に多大な影響を与えました。敬神崇仏の念に篤い富岡鉄斎（1836～1924）は、衰退の一途を辿る社寺と祭礼の実情に向き合い、独自の立場から調査研究することに努めました。なかでも、明治中期、京都太秦の牛祭を、鉄斎が中心となって復興したことは広く知られています。本展では、生まれ育った京都の祇園祭、牛祭、やすらい祭、滋賀筑摩の鍋冠祭を題材とした二曲一双屏風《四祭図》のほか、年中行事を一幅に収めた《名勝十二月図》、アイヌの儀礼イオマンテを描く《蝦夷人熊祭図》など、日本の風俗に取材した作品を紹介します。鉄斎が心を寄せて描いた躍動感あふれる祭礼図をお楽しみください。
