今から150年程前、時代が江戸から明治へと移り変わる頃、浮世絵師たちは、鉄道や産業化など文明開化による社会の変化を題材とし、または西洋的な表現を取り入れながら、新たな表現を生み出しました。120年の歴史ある浅井コレクションの協力により実現する本展では、歌川国芳（1797‒1861）や月岡芳年（1839 ‒1892）らの名品により、幕末から明治にかけて浮世絵が担った様々な役割を紐解きます。
