幕末から明治にかけて活躍した浮世絵師・月岡芳年【つきおかよしとし】（1839～1892）。残酷な場面を描いた「血みどろ絵」「無惨絵」をはじめ、歴史画や風俗画など様々な浮世絵を世に送り出して人気を博しました。そんな芳年作品にみられる、大胆な構図、鮮やかな色彩、アクロバティックな人物表現は、現代の私たちをも魅了してやみません。本展では、素描や肉筆画を含む貴重な作品の数々をご紹介します。圧倒的な表現力で繰り広げられる芳年芸術の世界をどうぞご堪能ください。
