2023年は医療マンガ、手塚治虫の『ブラック・ジャック』が登場して50年。『ブラック・ジャック』は現在第一線で活躍する医療従事者の多くに影響を与えたといわれている作品で、そこに込められたテーマやメッセージは、いまの人の心にも深い感銘を与えるものです。顔に傷のある黒ずくめの天才外科医ブラック・ジャックと彼が創造した“18歳で0歳”の女の子ピノコ。強力なキャラクターたちが繰り広げる物語は世界を舞台に、人間や生きものの命とそれを救う医療、人としての生きざまや、そもそも「医者は何のためにあるのだ」という根本的な問いにまでいたる、数多くのテーマから紡ぎ出されています。
