Si Eugène Delacroix ne fonda pas d’atelier, il fut, très tôt, considéré comme un modèle par bien des artistes plus jeunes, des futurs impressionnistes à Picasso et Matisse. Son talent, sa fidélité à son propre idéal, l’originalité de ses sujets et de leur traitement, la part donnée à l’imagination ont suscité, et suscitent toujours, une très vive admiration de la part des créateurs, peintres, graveurs, photographes.
