洋画家・中村研一が関東大震災や太平洋戦争を経て、都市と郊外を行き来しながら経験した時代の変遷と風景の変化をたどる所蔵作品展。フランス留学から帰国後の東京での生活、戦災によるアトリエ焼失、そして小金井への移住と終生を過ごした地での創作活動を通して、画家の人生の道の向こうにあったものを探る。
