About this exhibition

竹久夢二（1884–1934）は、画家、詩人、ジャーナリスト、デザイナー、イラストレーターなど、いくつもの顔をもつ表現者として、明治の終わりから昭和のはじめにかけて活躍しました。「夢二式」と呼ばれた女性像や、レトロモダンなデザインによって、大正ロマンを象徴する人物として知られています。青春の感傷や郷愁、江戸情緒と異国趣味、都会の洗練への憧れが描き出された抒情あふれる作品は、雑誌や絵葉書、展覧会などを通して人々の共感を呼び、一世を風靡します。
