若い頃より文人として煎茶文化に親しみ、茶の湯にも造詣の深かった鉄斎は書画だけでなく名工たちの手になる道具類にも自ら筆をふるい、賞玩しました。これらは「鉄斎の器玩」といわれ、自ら制作した焼物のほか陶工の三代・四代・五代清水六兵衞、二代三浦竹泉、初代諏訪蘇山、指物師中島菊斎等作品に鉄斎が絵付けを施し、あるいは詩句を書した合作が多く見られます。優れた造形と鉄斎の自由闊達な筆が相和する作品からは、親交の深さと信頼関係を窺うことができます。 本展では四季折々の景を描く茶盒や磁鉢、文房具とともに、鉄斎の交友関係を伝える合作書画や知友に贈った作品をあわせてご紹介します。
