古代中国の神仙思想から生まれた「仙境」は不老不死の仙人が棲むとされる伝説の地で、隠遁生活に憧れを抱く文人たちの好画題として、また吉祥を象徴する存在として親しまれました。近代文人画の巨匠富岡鉄斎（1836～1924）は若い頃より理想郷に想いを馳せ、自身の胸中の丘壑たる仙境を描いています。本展では青緑の美しい仙境と海を渡る神仙たちを個性豊かに描いた三幅対の大作《寿山福海図》、瑞々しい水墨であらわした最晩年の名品《蓬莱山図》などをご覧いただきます。
