七福神は、布袋、大黒天、寿老人、毘沙門天、恵比須、弁財天、福禄寿の七柱の神様の総称で、鉄斎が好んだ画題のひとつです。中国絵画や大津絵に学び、ユーモラスに表現された神々の姿は、今日でも見る者を楽しませます。また、長寿を喜んだ鉄斎は、不老長寿をあらわす寿老人を自身に見立てて描き、賀寿の祝いに親しい知人たちへ贈りました。福をもたらす神様として親しまれる、鉄斎の七福神をお楽しみください。
