富岡鉄斎生誕190年 鉄斎の人物画―画道のはじめは人物なり―

富岡鉄斎（1836～1924）が描く人物画は尊敬の念を抱いた、または興味をおぼえた中国・日本の武人、学者、歌人、茶人、画家、孝子など広範にわたります。人物を描くには歴史学に精通することが重要であるとし、さらに「画道のはじめは人物なり」と語りました。これを自ら実践した鉄斎は、該博な知識と歴史的考証をもって人物の外面・内面を画で表現し、賛には事歴を添えて顕彰しました。一方、賑わう市場の群衆を描いた《三津浜漁市図》や、人物・花鳥などで文字をあらわした《勾白字詩七絶》にみえる人物表現はユーモアにあふれ、みる者を惹きつけます。本展では学習の跡がうかがえる粉本（摸写・下絵）もあわせてご覧いただきます。肖像画や人物を主題とした作品をはじめ、風景の中に描かれた人物や動物たちにみられる鉄斎の多彩で魅力的な人物表現をお楽しみください。
