本展では､平安の国風文化と浄土信仰を守り、現在に引き継ぎ伝えてきた平等院と塔頭の信仰、文化、美術、歴史を紹介します。近年の調査によって新たに発見された寺外初公開の数々の寺宝から、平等院の歴史を未来へと伝えるために各時代につくられた模造にいたるまで、いにしえから現代の文化と美が融合する平等院の魅力を伝えます。
