和泉市制施行70周年を記念して美術館が所蔵する浮世絵版画の中から、浮世絵師を代表し、特に風景画にすぐれた絵師、葛飾北斎と歌川広重の作品をご紹介する展覧会です。題して絶景！頂上決戦。北斎は広重よりもおよそ40歳年上で、東海道を題材とする作品を広重よりも早くに制作しています。風景画への興味が北斎の代表作である冨嶽三十六景に結実しました。北斎が冨嶽三十六景を制作している同じ頃に広重が彼の名を世界に知らしめた東海道五十三次を版元保永堂から出版しました。本展覧会は両者の代表作である冨嶽三十六景と保永堂版東海道五十三次を中心に北斎と広重の風景画の魅力に迫ります。

Kubosō Memorial Museum of Arts

和泉市久保惣記念美術館

The Kubosō Memorial Museum of Arts, Izumi opened in Izumi, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, in 1982. The new wing was added in 1997. The local Kubo family, founders of the Kubosō cotton textile business, donated the land, buildings, collection, and funds for the museum's management to the city. The collection of some eleven thousand works includes two National Treasures and twenty-nine Important Cultural Properties.
