福島の洋画界を牽引した美術家、若松光一郎(1914-1995)と鎌田正蔵(1913-1999)の作品をご紹介します。二人は東京美術学校油画科で同時期に学び、卒業後も福島で活動を共にしました。戦後、新しい表現を模索する中で、若松はコラージュ技法を取り入れた作品を制作しはじめ、鎌田はユーモアのある視点で様々なフォルムを描きはじめます。本展では、独自の絵画表現を追求してきた二人の創作活動の変遷について、当館の所蔵作品から振り返ります。

Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art is a museum located in Fukushima City, at the base of Mount Shinobu. It shares a campus of over 60,000 square meters with Fukushima Prefectural Library. The two facilities were established together in July, 1984. However, the museum maintains its own grounds and gardens, separate from the library.
