徳川美術館の創設者・尾張徳川家19代当主義親は、知的な探求心にあふれた人物でした。義親は多分野に関心を持ち、東南アジアやヨーロッパ旅行で得た美術品・日本各地の郷土玩具など、彼ならではの目線で、その地域や生活の記憶と結びついた作品を蒐集しました。本展では、今年生誕140年、没後50年を迎える義親の文化への眼差しとその足跡を辿ります。
