About this exhibition
近代文人画の巨匠・富岡鉄斎（1836～1924）は、煎茶文化に造詣が深いことで有名ですが、その一方で、茶の湯の世界にも精通し、関係の作品を数多く遺しています。千利休をはじめとする茶人の肖像、著述、茶室などを考証して、根底に流れる精神を理解することに努めました。また、茶法にとらわれない茶人・丿貫（へちかん）や豊臣秀吉が催した北野大茶会などの逸話を愛しました。鉄斎が京都の名工たちと合作した道具類と、茶の湯にまつわる書画をお楽しみください。
