近代文人画の巨匠・富岡鉄斎（1836～1924）は、若い頃より旅が好きで、北は北海道から、南は鹿児島まで、全国に足跡を残しています。鉄斎を旅に駆り立てた目的は、名所旧跡を巡る物見遊山ではなく、先哲を弔い、地理・歴史・風俗を研究することにありました。本展では、鉄斎が描いた名所旧跡の名品とともに、その足跡を辿る旅へとご案内します。
