About this exhibition
岡本太郎がこの地にアトリエを構えたのはいまから70年前、1954年5月のことでした。ここは生まれてからパリに渡るまでを両親と過ごした大切な場所。ところが戦争から戻ると一面の麦畑で、家も、作品も、何もかもが空襲で失われていました。文字どおり裸一貫からの再出発を余儀なくされた太郎は、それでもくじけることなく戦後日本の美術界に斬り込んでいきます。
