未年にちなみ、羊をはじめとする動物モチーフを扱った絵画・工芸の作品約70件をご覧いただく特別展「動物礼讃 ―大英博物館から双羊尊がやってきた!」を開催いたします。テーマは4つ。最初は、大英博物館や京都・泉屋博古館が所蔵する中国古代の青銅器の名品です。続いて、神仏に仕える霊獣たちを表わす仏教絵画、権威や吉祥の動物がテーマとなった水墨画や屏風絵、最後は茶会や日常生活の場に用いる品々を飾る愛らしい動物たちが並びます。動物に対する畏怖や憧れ、身近な動物の愛らしさなど、多様な造形をお楽しみください。
