About this exhibition

国内有数のモネ・コレクションを誇る国立西洋美術館とポーラ美術館の共同企画である本展覧会では、絵画空間の構成という観点から、他の作家の作品との比較を通して、風景に注がれたモネの「眼」の軌跡をたどります。初期から晩年までモネの作品35点を軸としつつ、マネからピカソまで2つの美術館が誇る近代絵画の秀作や関連資料を加えた展示を通して、モネが描き出す絵画空間の独創性を立体的に浮かび上がらせ、近代風景画に革新をもたらした画家モネの「眼」の深化の秘密を解き明かします。
