明治期、開国によって流入した西洋文化が巷を席巻する中、日本画は伝統的な絵画技法に基づきつつも、西洋的な技法や感覚を取り入れ、日本独自の絵画分野として成立しました。その後も大正、昭和と日本画は花鳥風月や四季の移ろい、美人画など、日本の伝統的なモチーフを描きながらも、様々な文化や表現を吸収し、時代の変化に合わせて革新を重ねていきました。本展では、シーピー化成株式会社の日本画コレクションから横山大観、菱田春草、杉山寧をはじめとした、日本画の黎明期から昭和後期、平成に活躍した画家たちの作品81点を紹介。日本画の奥深い歴史とその魅力をお楽しみください。
