メアリー・カサット（1844-1926）は、アメリカ出身の印象派画家です。母と子の親密な情景を描いた作品で知られ、印象派の中核メンバーとして活躍した唯一のアメリカ人女性です。 ペンシルベニアの裕福な家庭に生まれ、パリでドガに認められて印象派展に参加。日本の浮世絵に影響を受けた版画作品も高く評価されています。 アメリカのコレクターに印象派を紹介する橋渡し役も果たし、アメリカにおける印象派の普及に大きく貢献しました。
