横尾の芸術と肉体は密接に関わってきました。それは単に人のフォルムを描くだけではなく、理性や思考を手放し、体の赴くままに筆をふるうという横尾の制作態度そのものにも現れています。本展では、「描く肉体」として横尾の身体性を大きく反映した表現主義的な技法や横尾流朦朧体（もうろうたい）が用いられた作品たちを、また「描かれる肉体」として三島由紀夫やリサ・ライオンなどモチーフに選ばれてきた多様な身体をご紹介します。横尾の創作における主体・客体両方の視点から肉体について考える機会になれば幸いです。そして最後の「肉体を超えて」いく世界には何が待ち受けているのでしょうか。いわゆる画家宣言以来、横尾が体当たりで培ってきた創造の世界をぜひご体感ください。
