尾張徳川家の家臣たちは、江戸時代の半ばごろには約二万五千人に及んでいました。彼らのなかには、初代将軍徳川家康とのつながりから、尾張徳川家に属しながらも幕府の公的な仕事を請け負っていた者や、尾張藩が成立する前からの在地武士としての由緒を持つ者など、さまざまな出自・経歴を持った人びとによって構成されていました。また、武芸の腕をもって出世した者や記録・地誌の編纂に携わった者など、尾張徳川家による支配のもと優れた技量を持った人びとも、江戸時代を通じて登場するようになります。本展示では、このようなさまざまな出自・経歴を持つ尾張家臣団を構成する人びとについて、歴史資料からその実像に迫ります。
