本展は、現代のデザインの礎をつくったといえる、大正から昭和にかけての工芸・デザインに焦点をあてようとするものです。アール・ヌーヴォー、アール・デコのエッセンスを日本固有の感性と融合させた家具や金工、ガラス工芸、世相を反映した雑誌の表紙原画、ポスターといった国立工芸館の所蔵品を軸に、岐阜県美術館の所蔵する大正から昭和にかけての日本画、水彩・素描や工芸・資料約30点を併せることによって、当時の人々のくらしと結びついた工芸からファッションまで、時代を鮮やかに彩った‘ロマンティック・モダン’を紹介します。
