多くの染色作家たちが、異国文化の中に身を置き、そこから触発された心象の風景を創作の源泉としてきました。欧米、中近東、アジアなど、作家の視線は広範な地域に注がれています。景観の美しさはもちろん、風土、宗教、習俗、精神性など、人間の生の根源に触れる、日本とは異なる文化のありように大きな刺激を受け、魅せられました。ときには幾度も通い、また世界の各地を訪れ、廻り、染めの技法を駆使することによって、異文化に対する豊かな感受性に裏打ちされた多様な表現に結実させています。今回の展覧会では、染色作家が見つめた異文化をモチーフに制作された作品を紹介します。
