山陰の風土や自然を背景に人々や子どもたちの姿をとらえた植田正治のシリーズ〈童暦（わらべごよみ）〉は、1955年から70年にかけて撮影されました。当時、これらの作品は、カメラ雑誌で個別に紹介されていましたが、1971年に『童暦』として、一冊の写真集にまとめられ出版されています。戦後のリアリズム運動の流れのなかで、自身の写真の方向性を失いながらも、懸命に模索していた植田は、この写真集により、再び高く評価され、注目されることになったのです。
