人口約6億人。多民族、多言語、多宗教の東南アジア地域ではダイナミックで多様な文化が育まれてきました。経済発展が目覚ましい近年、その現代アートの動向にも世界中から大きな注目が集まっています。「天気雨」を意味する展覧会タイトル「サンシャワー」は、東南アジア地域では頻繁にみられる気象現象であり、紆余曲折の歴史を経てきた同地域を表すメタファーでもあります。本展は、時代の潮流と変動を背景に発展した東南アジアにおける1980年代以降の現代アートを、9つの異なる視点から紹介する、史上最大規模の展覧会です。どこか懐かしく、まったく新しい東南アジアの姿―私たちの固定観念を覆す、ダイナミズムに満ち溢れるその息づかいを体感してください。
