チェン・ジエレン（陳界仁）の映像作品は、経済的に困窮している労働者や失業者、移民、アクティビストなどと協働で制作され、台湾社会の周縁に生きる人々の心傷や苦境を、アーカイブ映像とフィクションを織り交ぜながら描きます。日本植民地時代に建設されたハンセン病棟や、かつての台湾経済を支えた工場の跡地など、歴代政権の建築的遺産で実際に撮影された作品は、さまざまな統治のあり方に翻弄される人々の姿を明らかにし、忘れ去られた過去を未完の対話として現在に蘇らせるものです。前期・後期で構成される当プログラムでは、森美術館が所蔵する《工場》と《ルート》を含む、チェンの初期作品から近作までを紹介します。
