平安時代に紫式部によって著された『源氏物語』は、日本文学史を代表する王朝物語です。雅な宮廷を舞台に繰り広げられる光源氏や個性豊かな女性たちの恋愛模様、人生模様は、後世読み継がれる中でさまざまな文化や美術を生み出しました。本展では、源氏物語の場面やモチーフを表した麗しい絵画、工芸品を一堂に集め、後世につくられた写本や注釈類、さらに芸能への広がりも紹介することによって、わが国の文化に豊かなかがやきを与え続けたこの名作の魅力を再発見します。藤原定家が校訂した写本「青表紙本」や、国内外で分蔵され全体像がわからないゆえに“幻の源氏物語絵巻”とも呼ばれる「源氏物語絵巻（盛安本）」など、過去最大規模、約250件（予定、巡回含む）の多彩な文化財をご覧いただけます。京都国立博物館での源氏物語展の開催は、約50年ぶりとなります。どうぞご期待ください。
