歌川広重(1797-1858)は、江戸時代後期の浮世絵師です。風景画の大家として知られ、特に「東海道五十三次」「名所江戸百景」は日本美術を代表する傑作です。 江戸の定火消し同心の家に生まれ、15歳で歌川豊広に入門。情感豊かな風景表現と、雨・雪・霧などの気象描写に優れ、「風景の広重」として名を馳せました。 その叙情的な作風は、ゴッホやモネなど西洋の印象派画家たちにも影響を与え、ジャポニスムの象徴となりました。
