今回の展覧会では、1913（大正2）年生まれの植田正治の1980年代、つまり植田が60歳代後半から70歳代後半にかけての10年間の作品に注目します。一方この80年代は、愛妻の死、体調の不良など、辛い日々もありましたが、それらを乗り越え、年齢を感じさせない挑戦的で実験的な活動、表現が目立ちます。今回の展覧会では、植田の1980年代を概観しながら、アマチュア精神を抱き続けた“ベテラン”写真家の“若さあふれる”挑戦の数々を紹介します。
