このイメージに代表されるように、植田の作品には何気ない日常を写しとめたものが数多くあります。特別な被写体や風光明媚な風景ではなく、見慣れた山陰の空や雲、海辺の石ころ、揺れる草木、校庭で遊ぶ子どもたち、そして人影……。今回の展示では、植田が写真家としてもっとも意欲的に活動し、充実していたといわれる1970年代から80年代前半の<小さい伝記>や<風景の光景>のシリーズをはじめ、カメラ雑誌などに掲載された作品の数々を紹介します。
