今回の展覧会では、あらためて植田の「砂丘」や「砂浜」に注目し、代表作を中心に、1950年代に多く見られる「砂丘」の表情や造形に着目した作品、さらにはシリーズ〈小さい伝記〉や〈風景の光景〉の中にも登場する「砂浜」もあわせて紹介します。時代や表現意図も異なる様々な作品を通して、植田にとっての「砂丘」や「砂浜」の意味をあらためて考える良い機会となることでしょう。
