古代より人々はモノに祈りを託し、地面の下に埋めてきました。こうした埋納行為には、土地を浄（きよ）め守る願いや、タイムカプセルのように遠い未来へ教えを伝える願いが込められており、仏教の思想が深く関わっています。本展では、近畿出土の遺物を中心に埋納品を展示し、地下に眠り生き続ける、人々の祈りをたどります。
