遊びに夢中になる姿、節句を祝う晴れの姿、物語の主人公として活躍する姿など、浮世絵にはさまざまな“子ども”が登場します。その表情やしぐさからは、今と変わらない好奇心や無邪気さが感じられる一方、身分秩序や家族観など、当時の社会の価値観がうかがえる場面もみられます。本展では、子どもと親、それぞれの視点に光をあてながら、浮世絵に描かれた「江戸の子ども像」をたどります。日常の小さな喜びから、成長を祈る儀礼、物語に託された理想像、近代化による環境の変化まで、浮世絵に描かれた子どもをめぐる世界を多角的に紹介します。
