日本を代表する染色作家の一人として、京都を拠点に型絵染作品を発表してきた田島征彦(たじまゆきひこ)さんは、染色の技法を駆使して作られた、多数のヒット作品を持つ絵本作家としても知られています。人間国宝・稲垣稔二郎氏に師事し、一色一色丹念に染められた木綿の原画は、素朴な味わいと高い芸術性をあわせ持っています。本展覧会では、40年以上読みつがれている大ヒットシリーズ、「じごくのそうべえ」シリーズや、風土に根ざした絵本作品の手染めによる原画を皆様にご紹介したいと思います。合わせて、大型の染色作品も出品いたします。
