どうして宇都宮は妖精のまちなの？⌃
宇都宮には昔、天然痘が流行したときに不思議な黄色い鮒が現れ、病人がその身を食べたところ、病があともなく治ったという「黄ぶな伝説」があります。人々をおそろしい病から救った「黄ぶな」は、自然界の神秘を司る神々の化身であり、まさに自然の精霊です。西洋でも昔から、「妖精（自然の精霊）」は病を治したり、薬草の知識を授けたり、人間の運命を司る存在と考えられていました。このことから人々の病を治した「黄ぶな」は「妖精」の仲間といえるのではないでしょうか？また、市内（旧上河内町）には恩返しをする河童や巨人ダイダラボッチの伝承があり、妖精ミュージアムの近くには「百目鬼通り」と呼ばれる伝説の鬼の名前が由来となった通りが、いまでも残っています。宇都宮のまちは人知れず妖精物語（おとぎばなし）にあふれている「妖精のまち」なのです。
