日本各地には、その土地や土地に住まう人々を守る神々が鎮座しています。人々は共同体を作り、神に祈りを捧げて神のもたらす恵みを受け、その恵みに感謝しました。また同じ神を先祖とする部族が現れ、特定の願い事をその分野を得手とする神に捧げる人たちも現れました。展覧会では、神の鎮座地や祀る人々、そしてさまざまな祭りに注目し、日本人と神との関係をひもときます。
