The Tenshin Memorial Museum of Art, Ibaraki, opened in 1997 on the scenic Izura coast of Kitaibaraki. It commemorates the achievements of Okakura Tenshin, who relocated the Nihon Bijutsuin (Japan Art Academy) here, and features a memorial room dedicated to his life and works, alongside masterpieces by modern Japanese painters associated with the region.
