About this exhibition
染色は、布などの素材に染液が浸透していく「染まる」という現象と、蠟や糊といった防染剤を用いてそれを制御（あるいは非制御）する「染める」という行為から成り立ちます。同展は、それぞれ蠟染、糊染という技法の違いはあるものの、常に染色表現の最前線で独自の作品に挑み続けてきた、舘正明と加賀城健の２人の染色作家を中心に、染色表現の可能性を拓いていこうとするシリーズ企画です。３回目の今回は、波多野小桃、皆川百合、山中彩の３名の染色作家を加えた５作家によって、「染める」行為と「染まる」現象が切り結ぶことによって成立する、染色の新しい地平を見据えます。
