今展には、美術館関係者やメディア関係者などを含む選考委員が選んだ33名の染色作家が、この展覧会のために制作した作品を、前期、後期の２期に分けて出品します。染色界を代表する重鎮から20代の若手までが、多様な染色技法を駆使して創作した、力のこもった染色作品の数々は、まさに現在の染色芸術の状況を映し出す展覧会になっているといえます。作品の形状もまた、パネル、屏風、掛け布、額装、暖簾、反立体、着物、帯、掛軸と、実に多彩です。
