ABOUT
染色作家で京都市立芸術大学名誉教授の中野光雄氏（1935年生まれ）は、77年から繰り返し訪ねたネパールの風物に刺激を受け、型染とステンシルの技法を併用した幾何学的モチーフの連作を発表してきました。作品は同一の型で染めた複数の小画面からなり、同じかたちの反復が眩惑や陶酔を誘いますが、色彩はすべての小画面が互いに異なり、絶え間ない変奏は無限で多様な広がりを直感させます。円や方形の繰り返しか曼荼羅的な宇宙観が連想されるとすれば、そこに施された彩色の差異は時間や命の一回性、たとえば「今日と同じ明日はない」といった命題をも想起させそうです。
