レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチ（1452-1519）はルネサンスの巨匠であり、また多岐の分野にわたり、万能の天才として輝かしい軌跡を残しています。本展では、レオナルドがフィレンツェのシニョリーア宮殿（現・ヴェッキオ宮殿）の大評議会広間（現・五百人大広間）にて、同様に壁画を依頼されたミケランジェロと競演して制作を行った《アンギアーリの戦い》に焦点を当て、ご紹介いたします。未完に終わった同作品の構図の中心部分を担う「軍旗争奪」の場面が描かれた重要な板絵《タヴォラ・ドーリア（ドーリア家の板絵）》を中心に、この美術史上の伝説的な出来事を取り巻く西洋美術の諸相をご覧いただきます。
