本館改築130周年 道後温泉ものがたり ―湯のまちの歴史と文化

日本最古の温泉とされる道後温泉。そのシンボルとして広く親しまれている道後温泉本館（重要文化財）は、明治27年（1894）に神の湯本館が現在の3階建てに改築されてから130周年の節目を迎えるとともに、平成30年度から行われてきた保存修理工事も今年度で完了する予定です。本展はこれを記念し、神話の時代から現在に至るまでの道後温泉の長い歴史と、伊予松山における文化の一大集積地とも言える「道後」という地で展開した独自の文化芸術の流れをたどろうとするものです。道後地域の歴史的経緯を示す資料や、保存修理工事中に当館が協力した美術品調査によって見出された道後温泉本館所蔵の品々などを紹介します。
