近年、バンクシーの活動により、広く知られているストリートアート。そのはじまりは、1970年代のニューヨークで、貧困や治安の悪化など、社会不安のなかにあった若者たちが地下鉄車両や駅構内に書き込んた通称「タグ」 と呼ばれる自身のサインでした。本展では、グラフィティ時代の先駆者たちの作品から始まり、グラフィティアートとファインアートの橋渡しをしたへリングやバスキア、ヨーロッパや日本にて活躍するストリートアーティストまで、バンクシー作品を含む約90点を紹介します。社会的・文化的背景をもとに生まれ、いまなお進化を続けるストリートアートの歴史と本質に迫ります。
