Designed by I. M. Pei as a modern-day 'Shangri-La', the museum is beautifully integrated into a forested mountain landscape, with three-quarters of the structure built underground to preserve the natural environment.

The Miho Museum is an art museum located southeast of Kyoto, Japan, in the Shigaraki neighborhood of the city of Kōka, in Shiga Prefecture.
