Le domaine d’Arcueil connut son âge d’or au début du 18e siècle. Proche de l’aqueduc construit pour Marie de Médicis entre 1613 et 1624, le château était entouré par un vaste jardin comportant parterres, surfaces boisées, galeries couvertes et escaliers, et traversé par la Bièvre, canalisée et bordée par des parterres et des potagers.
